Police departments across the U.S. have been deploying increasingly advanced surveillance tech, purchasing military armored personnel carriers and other surplus gear, body armor, full-auto rifles (while denying citizens the same), drones, and even grenade launchers (supposedly only with less-lethal ammo) in some kind of multi-decade race to arm up.
The DHS used 9/11 as an excuse to roll out billions of dollars in grants to local police departments so they could afford to purchase all of this gear, while the Department of War has been using something called the 1033 program to transfer “excess” military equipment directly to police departments since the 1990s.
What are they arming up for, exactly? Why do police departments need armored personnel carriers?
I gathered data on police militarization across the 50 states and mapped it using lookoutmap.com.
Looking at this map, this looks a lot more like a Police State Control Grid being set up than something to “catch criminals”. Cops used to be able to catch criminals just fine before this. In fact, since the 1990s crime rates have been falling nationwide.
When crime rates are falling but police departments are purchasing military equipment meant for war zones, you know it’s got nothing to do with stopping criminals.
They’re obviously preparing for major unrest or martial law at some point and you don’t want to be in any densely populated area when this goes down.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that if you want privacy and freedom you better get out of the cities and major highway corridors. It’s also clear, from this map, that some states are much worse than others. If you decide to relocate, pick wisely.
All of this data is available on lookoutmap.com if you’re interested in learning more.
